Audio Editor — Cut, Trim, Join, Convert

Most quick audio jobs are the same few moves: keep just the part you want, cut a mistake out of the middle, stick two recordings together, and save the result in a format the next app accepts. This editor does all of them on one screen. Drop a voice memo, a song, a podcast or a video and its waveform appears; drag the two handles to choose a section, then keep it or cut it out. Add more files and they are joined in the order you set, each with its own cut. Add a fade in or out, preview the result, and save it as MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC or OGG. It reads MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, AAC, WebM, iPhone ringtones and the soundtrack of MP4 and MOV videos. Everything happens on your device — the audio is decoded, edited and encoded inside the browser tab and never uploaded, which matters for interviews, meetings and anything personal.

See What You Cut

A waveform with two drag handles shows exactly what stays and what goes — no guessing at timestamps. Arrow keys nudge to a tenth of a second.

Trim, Cut Out, Join

Keep a section, remove one from the middle, and join several files in any order — each track with its own edit.

Any Format In and Out

Open MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, AAC and video soundtracks. Save as MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC or OGG, with fades if you want them.

Never Uploaded

Decoding, editing and encoding all run in your browser. Your recording never leaves your device, and you can check.

!How It Works, Step by Step

1

Drop one or more audio or video files. They are read in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

2

Drag the handles on the waveform to select a section, then choose Keep selection or Cut out selection.

3

Add more files to join them, reorder them, and add a fade in or out if you like.

4

Preview the result, pick MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC or OGG, and save it.

Technical FAQ

How do I cut an audio file online?
Drop the file onto this page and its waveform appears. Drag the two blue handles around the part you want, leave Keep selection on, and click Make. Preview the result before saving. The file is edited in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and there is no size limit beyond your device’s memory.
How do I remove a section from the middle of a recording?
Select the section with the two handles and switch to Cut out selection. The shaded part is dropped and the audio before and after it is joined. Play around the cut lets you hear the join before you save.
How do I join two audio files?
Drop both files, or use Add files to join. They are joined in the order listed; use the arrows to reorder. Each track can have its own cut, so you can trim the silence off the end of one and the start of the next before they are joined.
Which formats can I open and save?
It opens anything your browser can decode: MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG and Opus, WebM, iPhone ringtones (M4R) and the soundtrack of MP4 and MOV videos. It saves MP3, M4A (AAC), WAV, FLAC and OGG (Opus). M4A and OGG use your browser’s own encoders, so a browser without one — Firefox has no AAC encoder — shows that format as unavailable.
Does cutting reduce the quality?
Saving as WAV or FLAC keeps every sample of the decoded audio. Saving as MP3, M4A or OGG compresses again, which loses a little more; at 192 kbps and above it is not audible in ordinary listening. If the original was an MP3, saving the edit as FLAC keeps it exactly as decoded but cannot restore what the original compression removed.
Why does saving as MP3 or FLAC take longer?
Those two are encoded in JavaScript, while M4A and OGG use encoders built into the browser. A one-minute recording takes a few seconds either way; an hour can take several minutes as MP3. The progress bar shows how far it has got, and the page stays usable meanwhile.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. The file is decoded, edited and encoded inside your browser tab. You can check by opening the Network tab of your browser’s developer tools while you edit — no request carries the audio.
