How do I make a photo look like a scanned document?
Three things make a photo look scanned: perspective correction (the page becomes a true rectangle), cropping away the background, and contrast enhancement. PDFGami's document scanner does all three in your browser: drag the four corner handles onto the page edges, choose the Enhanced or B&W scan output style, and Apply. The output is a flat, clean page like a flatbed scan.
Is it safe to scan IDs or contracts with an online tool?
With cloud-based scanner tools, your document photo is uploaded to their servers — risky for IDs and contracts. PDFGami runs the entire pipeline (corner detection, perspective warp, enhancement, PDF assembly) in your browser. Nothing is uploaded; you can verify in the browser developer tools network tab.
Can I scan multiple pages into one PDF?
Yes. Upload all the photos at once. The tool iterates through them one page at a time — you confirm the corners for each — and at the end you download a single PDF containing every corrected page in order.
Does the corner detection work automatically?
The tool pre-suggests corners using a brightness heuristic (paper is usually brighter than the background). It works well for documents on a dark desk, but it is a suggestion, not a decision — you always see the detected outline and can drag any corner before applying. If detection fails, the handles start at a neutral inset position.
What is perspective correction, technically?
The tool computes a homography — a 3x3 projective transform — from the four corners you set to a flat rectangle, then inverse-maps every output pixel back into the photo with bilinear sampling. It is the same approach dedicated scanner apps like mobile scanning apps use, running as plain JavaScript on the Canvas API.
Why not use my phone's built-in scanner app?
Phone scanner apps are great — if you are on your phone and trust the app's cloud. PDFGami is useful when the photos are already on your computer, when you want batch processing with manual corner control, or when the documents are sensitive enough that a no-upload guarantee matters.
