Crop Images Free — Transparency Kept, No Upload

Crop a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG — or a pasted screenshot — to any size or ratio and save it again. Transparent PNGs stay transparent. Free, browser-only, no upload.

Crop Images Free — Transparency Kept, No Upload

Cropping should be the easiest edit there is, yet online croppers routinely get two things wrong: they upload the picture to do it, and they flatten a transparent PNG onto a white or black background on the way out. This tool does neither. Open a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG, or just paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V, drag the crop box — or type the exact pixel size — and save. The image is cropped at its full original resolution inside your browser, and a transparent PNG or WebP comes back with its transparency intact. Pick a fixed ratio like 1:1 for a profile picture or 16:9 for a slide, and copy the result straight back to the clipboard if that is where it is going.

Transparency Stays

PNG and WebP output keep the alpha channel exactly. Only JPG, which cannot store transparency, fills it — and the tool warns you first.

Paste In, Copy Out

Paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V, crop it, and copy the PNG back to the clipboard without ever saving a file.

Exact Pixels or a Ratio

Drag the box, lock it to 1:1, 4:3, 16:9 or 4:5, or type the width, height and position you need.

100% Browser-Only

No upload and no server copy. The picture is cropped on your own device at full resolution.

!How It Works, Step by Step

1

Drop a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG image, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V. Nothing is uploaded.

2

Drag the crop box and its handles, or pick a ratio such as 1:1 or 16:9 to lock the shape.

3

For an exact size, type the width, height and position in pixels instead.

4

Choose the format — it defaults to the one you opened — and click Download, or Copy PNG to put it on the clipboard.

Technical FAQ

Does cropping a PNG keep its transparent background?
Yes, as long as you save it as PNG or WebP. The image is drawn onto a canvas that starts fully transparent, so the alpha channel comes through the crop untouched. JPG is the exception: the format has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white — and the tool shows a warning when the image you opened actually has transparent pixels.
Which image formats can I crop?
PNG, JPG, WebP and SVG, plus any image pasted from the clipboard. The output defaults to the format you opened and can be switched to PNG, JPG or WebP. Formats a browser cannot open reliably — HEIC, TIFF — are refused rather than half-handled (iPhone HEIC photos can be turned into JPGs first with the HEIC to JPG converter), and animated GIFs are not accepted because cropping would silently keep only the first frame.
Is the image cropped at full resolution?
Yes. JPG, PNG and WebP images are cropped at their original pixel size; the crop box you see is scaled to fit the screen, but the numbers under it are real pixels and the output matches them exactly.
What happens when I crop an SVG?
It is rasterised first, at 2048 pixels on its long side, and the crop is taken from that. The result is a PNG, JPG or WebP — not a vector — and the tool says so. Keeping it vector would mean rewriting the SVG's viewBox, which breaks on files with transforms or percentage sizes.
How do I crop to an exact size, like 1080 × 1080?
Choose the 1:1 ratio, then type 1080 into the width box; the height follows because the ratio is locked. You can also type the X and Y position to place the crop precisely. The download button shows the final pixel size before you save.
Can I paste a screenshot and copy the cropped result back?
Yes. Press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac) with the page open and the screenshot loads straight into the cropper. After cropping, Copy PNG puts the result on the clipboard so you can paste it into a chat, a document or a slide without saving a file.
Is it safe to crop private photos online?
On PDFGami, yes, because nothing is uploaded. The image is decoded and cropped in your browser. Open your developer tools network tab while cropping — no request carries the picture.
