Open a Pages File — Without a Mac

Open an Apple .pages document without a Mac: read the text and tables, save the pictures, and get it as a Word file — all in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

No Mac needed · text, tables and pictures · to Word in one click

Your document is opened in your own browser — it is never uploaded.

Contracts, coursework, CVs, letters: the file is taken apart inside this tab, on your computer or phone. There is no server step, so no copy of it ends up on anyone else's machine, and there is no account to create. The Word, text and picture downloads are made here too. Check it rather than trust it: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and open a document — no request carries it.

Open a Pages File — Without a Mac

Someone sent you a .pages file, and your Windows PC, Android phone or Chromebook has no idea what it is. Pages is Apple’s word processor, and its documents open only in Pages. This reader takes the file apart inside your browser and gives you what is genuinely in it: every paragraph in order, each table as a real table where it sits in the text, and every picture as the original file. One click turns it into a Word document with the text, tables and pictures in place. Most documents also carry a picture of their first page, shown exactly as Pages drew it, and documents from older versions of Pages usually carry a complete PDF that Pages made itself — when one is there, you get it untouched. What a browser cannot do is reproduce the page design — fonts, colours, columns, where things sit on the page — because Apple has never published the format and only Pages lays it out. When you need that, the page shows the free route that works on any computer. Your document is opened on your own device and never uploaded.

Text and Tables, in Order

Every paragraph, and every table as a table, exactly where it sits in the document. Headers, footnotes and text boxes too.

Word in One Click

Save it as a .docx with the text, the tables and the pictures in place — ready to edit in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice.

Pictures as Original Files

Photos and screenshots come out untouched, numbered to match their place in the text. Older files also give up the exact PDF.

Never Uploaded

The document is opened in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and you can check.

!How It Works, Step by Step

1

Drop the .pages file onto the page. It is opened in your browser — nothing is uploaded.

2

Read it straight away: the text and tables in order, the pictures, and a picture of page one.

3

Save it as Word (.docx) or plain text, copy the text, or save the pictures.

4

Need the exact page design? Download the embedded PDF if there is one, or follow the free iCloud route shown.

Technical FAQ

How do I open a .pages file on Windows?
Drop it onto this page. It is opened in your browser, with nothing installed and nothing uploaded, and you can read the text and tables straight away, save the pictures, or turn it into a Word document. For the exact page design of a newer document, open it free at iCloud.com, which runs Pages in any browser, and choose Download a Copy.
Can I convert a Pages file to Word?
Yes: click Word (.docx). The Word file has every paragraph in order, each table as an editable Word table, and the pictures where they sat in the document. What it does not carry is the page design — fonts, colours, spacing and columns — because that is computed by Pages itself. For a Word file that keeps the design, open the document at iCloud.com and choose Download a Copy, then Word.
Can I convert a Pages file to PDF?
When the file carries a PDF, yes, exactly: documents saved by older versions of Pages usually include a complete PDF that Pages made itself, and this page hands it to you untouched. Files from current versions of Pages do not include one. For those, open the document free at iCloud.com and choose Download a Copy, then PDF — the only way to get a faithful PDF without a Mac.
Is my document uploaded?
No. The file is read from your disk into the browser tab and taken apart there; the Word, text and picture downloads are created in the tab too. No part of it is sent to a server. You can check: open your browser’s developer tools, watch the Network tab while you open the document, and no request carries it.
Are tables and pictures included?
Yes, for documents from Pages 5 and later — anything saved since 2013. Tables come out as tables, in the place they sit in the text, with the words and numbers of every cell. Pictures come out as the original files — the same photo or screenshot that was put into the document — and each is marked in the text as [Picture 1], [Picture 2] and so on. Cell colours, borders and number formats such as currency symbols are not reproduced. Documents from Pages ’09 and earlier give their text without tables, but they usually carry an exact PDF instead.
Why does the page-one picture show only the first page?
Because that is what Pages stores. When it saves a document, Pages includes a preview picture of the first page so that file browsers can show a thumbnail. It is exact, but it is one page and at preview resolution. The whole document is still there as text, tables and pictures.
What if the Pages file is password-protected?
Then its contents are encrypted, and nothing but Pages can read them. The reader tells you so instead of showing an error. Ask the sender to remove the password in Pages (File, Set Password) or to export the document as a PDF.
What if the file arrived as a .zip or a folder?
Some Pages documents are saved as a package — a folder that a Mac shows as one file. Sent by email, it usually arrives zipped. Drop the .zip here and it is opened the same way. If it arrived as a folder, zip it first; your computer can do that from the right-click menu.
