Technical FAQ

Which input image formats are supported?

JPG, JPEG, PNG, WebP, and SVG. All decoding uses the browser's built-in image pipeline, so the same set your browser can display is the set the tool accepts.

Why convert PNG to WebP?

WebP typically produces files 25–35% smaller than equivalent PNG at the same visual quality, which makes it useful for web images and uploads with size limits. Most browsers, social platforms, and CMSs support WebP today.

Why convert WebP to JPG?

Some upload forms (older job application portals, government websites, photo print services) still only accept JPG. Converting WebP to JPG produces a universally compatible file.

Does the tool upload my images?

No. The encoding and decoding happen via the browser's Canvas API on your own device. You can verify this in the browser developer tools network tab — there is no upload request when you click Convert.

What happens to alpha transparency when I convert PNG to JPG?

JPG does not support transparency. The transparent pixels become white, which is the safest default. If you need to keep the alpha channel, convert to WebP or stay with PNG instead.

Can I paste a screenshot to convert it?
