Convert Audio & Video to MP3 — Free, Secure, No Upload

PDFGami's audio converter turns M4A, MP4, MOV, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG/Opus, WebM, and MP3 files into MP3 — entirely in your browser. The decoding uses your browser's built-in audio engine and the MP3 encoding runs locally via lamejs (a JavaScript LAME port), so audio data never travels to any server. Free, secure, with adjustable bitrate from 96 to 320 kbps, batch input, and ZIP download for multiple files. Useful for converting iPhone voice memos (M4A), extracting audio from YouTube downloads (MP4), shrinking studio WAVs, or trimming lossless FLAC libraries to a portable format.

Supports Many Formats

M4A, MP4, MOV, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG/Opus, WebM, and MP3 all decode natively in modern browsers. Drop any of them, get MP3.

100% In-Browser, Secure

No upload. The audio is decoded and MP3-encoded on your device — safe for voice memos, recordings, and other private audio.

Free, No Watermark

No signup, no email, no MP3 watermark, no monthly cap. Convert as many files as you want.

Bitrate Control

96 / 128 / 192 / 256 / 320 kbps. Pick the size-vs-quality trade-off that matches your use case.

!How It Works, Step by Step

1

Drop audio or video files (M4A, MP4, MOV, WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG, WebM, MP3).

2

Pick the output MP3 bitrate (192 kbps is the sweet spot for music).

3

Click Convert. Decoding and encoding happen in your browser — no upload.

4

Download a single MP3 directly, or a ZIP archive if you converted multiple files.

Technical FAQ

Which audio formats can I convert to MP3 with this tool?
M4A, MP4 (video — audio track is extracted), MOV (video — audio extracted), WAV, FLAC, AAC, OGG/Opus, WebM, and existing MP3 files (useful for re-encoding at a different bitrate). WMA and AIFF are not supported because mainstream browsers do not ship decoders for them.
Is it safe to convert audio online without uploading?
On PDFGami, yes — the entire conversion runs in your browser. The decoding uses the browser's built-in audio decoder; the MP3 encoding uses lamejs in JavaScript. No audio data is transmitted to any server. You can verify in the browser developer tools network tab that no upload request fires when you click Convert.
How long does conversion take?
A 3-minute audio file converts in a few seconds. A 30-minute audio file or a video file takes longer because the browser has to decode the entire stream first. Very large videos (1+ hour) may take a minute or more and use significant memory.
What MP3 bitrate should I pick?
128 kbps is fine for voice (podcasts, voice memos). 192 kbps is the sweet spot for music — small file, transparent quality for most listeners. 320 kbps is the lossy ceiling, used by audiophiles who want the smallest possible quality loss. Below 96 kbps quality degrades noticeably.
Can I convert MP4 (video) to MP3 in the browser?
Yes. The browser's audio decoder can read the audio track out of an MP4 container directly. The video data is ignored — only the audio is encoded into MP3. This works the same way for MOV and WebM video files.
Will the converted MP3 have a watermark?
No. PDFGami never adds a watermark or audio stamp to the output. The MP3 is exactly the audio data your browser decoded, re-encoded at the bitrate you chose.
Can I convert to WAV, FLAC, M4A or OGG instead of MP3?
Yes. Pick the output format above the file list: MP3, M4A (AAC), WAV, FLAC or OGG (Opus). WAV and FLAC are lossless from the decoded audio; M4A and OGG use your browser’s own encoders, so a browser without one — Firefox has no AAC encoder — shows that format as unavailable. MP3 and FLAC are encoded in JavaScript and take longer on long files; the progress is shown as it goes.
